Holyoke, Mass. May 25, 2017 — Peter S. Novak, General Agent of Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co., a MassMutual firm, has been awarded with GAMA International’s James H. Kreuger First in Class Award for his outstanding leadership in both his career and in the community. This is the third time Novak has been recognized with this award; he was also a recipient in 2010 and 2011.
Novak, a 32-year veteran of the insurance business, has been a MassMutual field leader since joining the company in 1995. Under the leadership of Novak and his partner, General Agent Brendan Naughton, Charter Oak has grown regionally to include presence in Massachusetts, Connecticut and both metropolitan and upstate New York. The firm has been recognized by MassMutual with 12 gold bowls, three silver bowls and a bronze bowl in recognition of its overall excellence.
In addition to the Kreuger Award, GAMA has recognized Novak with its International Management Award (2004-06, 2008-14), Master Agency Award (2002, 2007-17) and National Management Award (NMA), Platinum level (2001-03). He received the NMA Traditional Gold Award in 2000 after earning his first NMA in 1999. Novak served on GAMA’s board of directors from 2015-2017.
Novak commented: “GAMA has long been at the forefront of industry innovation and advocacy. Especially in these times of change for our business, I’m grateful for its work and am humbled to be recognized with this award—especially knowing I share the honor with some truly remarkable peers.”
A firm dedication to community and industry service, and Polish culture remain at the center of Pete’s professional and personal endeavors. He is the co-founder of the Charter Oak Fund, Charter Oak’s charitable arm, which supports numerous local philanthropic causes and organizations; a board member of GAMA International; a member of the Board of Trustees of The Kosciuszko Foundation; and a board member of the Central European Institute (CEI) at Quinnipiac University.
