Charter Oak General Agent Peter Novak Named an Honorary Member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation
New Haven, Conn. January 15, 2016 — Peter Novak, General Agent of Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co., one of the largest general agencies of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), has been named an honorary member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation (WCFF).
Honorary membership is granted annually to an individual who is exceptionally dedicated to WCFF thorough either their time, financial support or both. Novak received the honor at a January 15th event.
The all-volunteer WCFF was founded in 1967 to continue the work started by Walter Camp, a player and coach for Yale University, who is considered to be the “Father of American Football,” and who established many of the rules of the game today. Mr. Camp was also the first to select a College All-America Team, in 1889. WCFF oversees the selection of the All-America Football Team as voted on by the Division I FBS Head Coaches and Sports Information Directors. It also selects and honors other individuals who have distinguished themselves as humanitarians, in addition to raising money for charitable purposes.
A native of New Haven, Novak is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and a member of its hall of fame. Long after he left collegiate athletics and coaching for the financial services industry, he has remained passionate about youth sports, notably through his involvement with AAU Basketball and, for the past 10 years, through his support of WCFF. Novak resides in Longmeadow, Mass. with his wife.
